Advice for Local History Authors
If you are interested in having your local history book published with us, please send us the following information, using the submissions form (click link above), as a first step.
- Proposed title: our local history books are usually about a large town, city or county. Unfortunately we cannot accept proposals on an area with a population of less than 10,000
- A paragraph about yourself and why you are the best person to compile the book
- A synopsis (no more than 150 words) about the book itself. Clearly define the concept, who the book is aimed at, and the unique selling points of your book. A contents list is also useful if you have one
- Details of funding if applicable
- Books in our local history list are made up of various series, the specifications for which are below:
Pocket Miscellany

Britain In Old Photographs

170-200 archive pictures
Voices (oral history series)

c. 90 pairs of illustrations (one old picture and a new

Haunted

If your book does not fall into one of the above series, please provide a rough idea of how many words and images you would like to include and we will be happy to advise.
If we decide to take the idea forward then we will send you a full questionnaire to fill in.
