Synopsis
This fascinating collection of more than 190 postcards and photographs of Ilkley, covering more than a century of history, has been collected by local author Mike Dixon. All aspects of life in the area are here: the Heather Spa, the hydros of the past - great and small - and disasters such as the Ilkley flood of 1900; events such as the carnival and traditions such as the Black Hats versus White Hats cricket match, with more than a 130 years of history behind it; and local institutions including hospitals, schools, and the shops (and shopkeepers) of the town.
