They uncover the tragic secrets of Berkeley Castle and the Gaunts’ Chapel, a lonely ghost haunting an ancient inn, and twenty-first-century beasts in the Forest of Dean. From the intrigue and romance of town and abbey to the fairy magic of the wild, here are thirty of the county’s most enchanting tales, brought imaginatively to life by a dynamic local storyteller.
Anthony Nanson is a Gloucestershire-based storyteller who has performed throughout Britain and in Finland, Greece, and Switzerland. He is a member of the storytelling company Fire Springs, with whom he has co-produced many shows.
A love of nature and the spirit of place informs all his storytelling, and he has authored Storytelling and Ecology, Words of Re-enchantment and the short-story collection Exotic Excursions. He is a lecturer at Bath Spa University, where he teaches creative writing.
