Managing Editor National (maternity cover) vacancy
The History Press is the UK’s largest local and specialist history publisher, based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. We publish books in a wide range of subject areas including Local, Ancient, Medieval and Modern History, Transport, Industry, Biography, Popular Archaeology, Sport and Military History.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Managing Editor to contribute to our Pre-press Department, working across our trade titles.
The role will involve project managing national trade titles and the ideal candidates will have thorough experience of editorial project management and working with commissioning editors, authors and freelance editors.
Successful candidates will need to have excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise effectively as they will be dealing with multiple projects and deadlines at one time. A thorough understanding and experience of the copy-editing process and excellent attention to detail are also required. Working knowledge of InDesign, good communication skills and a high standard of literacy are essential. Experience of working on highly illustrated books and an interest in history would be an advantage.
The position is for an initial 6 months’ maternity cover commencing 1st July 2014, based full time in our office in Stroud.
